Everyone who has ever had a job doing aerospace modelling knows how much time can go into quality surface modeling. Engineers have gone decades, performing a slow process of coordinate imports, only to find that they don’t scale well when a chord value is increased, or the DAT file they have picked isn’t formatted the same as the last one they selected. Some designers even choose to trace images. This is a more reliable, but also less accurate process. Both options are inadequate.
Thankfully they are required no more.
Just find the template on Onshape, and start pasting in HAVF arrays. A list of 1500+ airfoils can be found in the book we have written, but we also provide free arrays for you to test our templates with.

The 3 profile version of the template is available for free, and the 5 profile (or airfoil) template is available on our store. The HAVF airfoil system is a robust, simple, and highly functional geometry language composed only of bezier curves. The full function and details of how to set up templates like this, completely in your own software ecosystem are made plain and available in our book. This way, you may take advantage of the HAVF system as much as possible. In the case that you do not require or desire to set up these tools yourself, our free and paid templates are available to you.
